TOURS TO THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
Located on 12-acre Liberty Island in New York Harbor, the Statue was a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the people of the US. The Statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886 and was designated a National Monument on October 15, 1924. A living symbol of freedom to millions, visitors can now experience a special insider's view of the engineering marvel. Visit the Statue's observation deck to see the panoramic views of NY and the Harbor, and witness the Statue up close from her promenades on Ft. Wood. Also enjoy the Statue of Liberty Exhibit located on the second floor in the pedestal of the Statue. It traces the history and symbolism of the Statue. The Statue's crown is not accessible and the torch has been officially closed since July 1916. On October 28th, 1886, President Grover Cleveland accepted the Statue on behalf of the US and said: "We will not forget that Liberty has here made her home; nor shall her chosen altar be neglected."
