North Dakota, the northernmost of the Great Plains states
in Midwestern US, is bordered in the north by the Canadian
provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba and in the south by
South Dakota. In the west is Montana and to the east across
the Red River of the North and the Bois de Sioux River is
Minnesota. The Missouri River flows through the western part
of the state.

earth science specimens excavated from the area.
North Dakota Heritage Center showcases the diverse
collections of the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

Dakota Prairie.
Pioneer Trails National Museum explores the rich history
of the prairies of the Midwest, from Native American civilizations
to early settler culture to dinosaur fossils.
CENTRAL REGION
International Peace Garden has colorful gardens, landscapes
and wilderness areas.
EASTERN REGION
Plains Art Museum's permanent collection contains
more than 2,400 pieces including regional art, traditional
American Indian art, contemporary art and traditional folk
art.
Fargo Theatre offers outstanding live theatre, great
movies, and a first film festival.
Thunder Road is a dynamic go-kart track that features
banked corners, hairpin turns, and endless racing fun for
all members of your family.

NORTH DAKOTA
The Dakota Zoo is the regions largest zoo, housing
over 600 animals. There are prairie dogs, mountain lions,
bison and other animals native to the region.
NATIONAL PARKS
Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site is
located near the junction of the Missouri and Yellowstone
rivers. The post was the headquarters for trading bison hides
and other furs with the Assiniboin Indians to the north, the
Crow Indians on the upper Yellowstone and the Blackfeet who
lived farther up the Missouri.
Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site preserves
the historic and archaeological remnants of the culture and
agricultural lifestyle of the Northern Plains Indians.
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail celebrates
the heroic expedition of the Corps of Discovery, led by Captain
Meriwether Lewis and Captain William Clark.
Theodore Roosevelt National Park is in the colorful
North Dakota badlands and is home to a variety of plants and
animals, including bison, prairie dogs, and elk.
