LOCATION: Georgia, known as the Peach State or Empire
State of the South, is a southern state of the US. Georgia
was one of the thirteen colonies that revolted against British
rule in the American Revolution and was the last of the thirteen
colonies to be established as a colony. The state capital
is Atlanta.

Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a 2,167-mile
(3,488 km) footpath along the ridge crests and across the
major valleys of the Appalachian Mountains from Katahdin in
Maine to Springer Mountain in north Georgia.
Trail Of Tears National Historic Trail commemorates
the removal of the Cherokee Indian people in 1838 and the
paths that 17 Cherokee detachments followed westward. Today
the trail encompasses about 2,200 miles of land and water
routes, and traverses portions of nine states.
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is where
visitors can learn about King's life and his influence on
others.
Ocmulgee National Monument preserves a continuous
record of human life in the Southeast from Ice-Age hunters
to the Muscogee (Creek) people of historic times.
Jimmy Carter National Historic Site includes President
Carter's residence, boyhood farm, school, and the railroad
depot, which served as his campaign headquarters during the
1976 election.
