Lassen Volcanic National Park, CA

Introduction

Lassen Volcanic National Park is known to the whole world for its Lassen Peak – world’s largest plug dome volcano. And no surprise, it is the most dominant feature of this U.S. national park. Located in the northeastern California, around 50 miles east of Redding, Lassen Volcanic is one of the unique places in the earth where four types of volcanoes can be found including plug dome, cinder cone, strato and shield. Besides these, Lassen is also the home to a number of active boiling mud pots, steam vents, hot springs, painted dunes and around 79,000 acres of designated wilderness area.

Established on August 9, 1916, Lassen Park initially started as two separate national monuments, viz. Lassen Peak National Monument and Cinder Cone National Monument. It started getting popularity within a very short period of time. Currently, this national park in U.S. has become the home to plenty of fun activities.
