Encompasses the caldera of Crater Lake, Crater Lake National Park is the only place in this world that has a deep, pure, blue lake surrounded by cliffs of up to 2,000 feet high, vicious volcanic past and 2 scenic island at the same.

Visiting Crater Lake National Park

Visiting Crater Lake National Park is a great pleasure for any traveler. You may often get surprised by the amount of snow in the park during the early season. However, Crater Lake National Park becomes a snow covered wilderness from October to June.

Crater Lake is one of the biggest attractions of Crater Lake National Park. It is an amazing lake and is also the deepest lake in U.S, as well as the ninth deepest lake in the world, with a depth of 1,949 feet.

Crater Lake National Park is also the place for some most thrilling outdoor exploration. Hiking and camping are quite popular in this USA national park. Visit the attractions like the Pumice Desert, the Pinnacles, Mount Scott, Union Peak, Crater Peak, Timber Crater, Rim Drive, Old Growth Forests and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Camping: There are two popular campgrounds in Crater Lake National Park. Mazama Campground has around 200 sites and remains open from mid-June to early October. You can also camp at Lost Creek Campground, which has 16 tent sites and remains open from mid-July to early October. However, remember that, weather plays a vital role and can affect the opening and closing dates of the campgrounds.

Guided Tours: Various guided tours are available at Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake Boat Tours are perhaps the most popular of them all. Tours are conducted from mid-July to mid-September. Tickets will be available from the Cleetwood Cove Trailhead parking area. You can also go for other guided tours like Discovering Crater Lake Talks, Ranger’s Choice Talks, Junior Ranger Program, and Evening Programs etc. During winters, you can go for the popular Snowshoe Walks.

How to Reach

Air: If you are going there by air, you need to land at Klamath Falls (60 miles away) or Medford (80 miles away) Road: If you are coming down by road, take Route 138 east from Roseburg, Route 97 south to Route 138 from Bend, Route 62 north and east from Medford and Route 97 north to Route 62 north and west from Klamath Falls.
